For prospective PhD students
We offer PhD studies in both Accelerator Physics and Synchrotron Radiation Instrumentation. The education is given by MAX N-fak which is a part of the faculty of natural sciences at Lund University.
A PhD from MAX IV means working four years in a very international environment. Our close colleagues can be found in other synchrotrons around the world.
TENTATIVE SUBJECTS
The subject of your thesis will of course be chosen by you in discussions with us, but here there are some teasers for your mind:
Accelerator Physics
- Generation of very short and intense electron bunches in a linac
- Coherence properties in FELs
Synchrotron Radiation Instrumentation
- Optical solutions for using, modifying and analyzing soft-X-ray radiation
- Developing instrumentation and methods for electron and ion spectroscopies
