Strategy workshops: Tackling Environmental Challenges

Event Date: 2021-09-01

In the light of the recent IPCC report 2021, the urgency to discuss how MAX IV best can assist the science community to tackle the many environmental challenges ahead is increasing. Scientists of climate, environment, biodiversity, sustainability, and more, please, join this workshop and present your thoughts!

In the context of the MAX IV process of developing a science-driven Strategy and Roadmap to guide our development during the period of 2023–2030, we are organising Strategy workshops to solicit community input to finalize the full strategy in the spring of 2022.

We warmly invite you to the first virtual half-day workshop  “Tackling Environmental Challenges” taking place on the 1st September 2021 (9am-12:15 CET) and we invite everyone who is interested in contributing to  the corresponding section of the strategy document to participate in the workshop.

The meeting aims to collect contributions from various stakeholders, for example, representatives of Swedish universities, research institutions, international research communities, industry, as well as from MAX IV, regarding the “Tackling Environmental Challenges” section of the strategy document. All contributions will be collected in an evolving attachment to the Strategy document, which will serve as basis for the next version of “Tackling Environmental Challenges” section. In addition, we hope to select contributions to the forward looking section with the same name on the 33rd MAX IV user meeting.

As part of this workshop, we strongly encourage members of the user community to share their input on this topic. This may be achieved by highlighting the grand challenges of importance during the next decade and scientific strategies or via the proposal of a new beamline or end station/sample delivery systems. If you are able to contribute such a short (approx. 3 minutes) presentation during the user session of this workshop, please email .
