FragMAX platform interface

First Test of FragMAX Platform Delivers for HZB Compound Libraries

image: User interface for FragMAX screening platform at MAX IV Researchers at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), in collaboration with MAX IV’s BioMAX team, have validated a new diverse universal compound library used in the process of drug discovery and development. The HZB study, published in CellPress, sourced the power of MAX IV’s macromolecular crystallography beamline BioMAX

BioMAX switches to remote operations in times of COVID-19

International travel restrictions as well as national travel recommendations due to COVID-19 have imposed a challenge on scientists in need of beamtime. BioMAX is therefore now running remote sessions with users. At MAX IV Laboratory, our priorities during this COVID-19 pandemic are to keep our staff, users and contractors safe and contribute to societal solidarity

First electron beam in the 1.5 GeV storage ring

End of September, a stored beam in the 1.5 GeV ring at MAX IV Laboratory was achieved for the first time, thus completing Phase I of the MAX IV project. – This is one more important mile stone and we are all very happy and proud having being able to deliver results on time, says

Proteins – the building blocks of life

To say that Marjolein Thunnissen has been interested in structural biology and synchrotron research since early childhood would be an exaggeration, but only a slight one. Marjolein was actually only 19 when she knew this was what she wanted to focus on. The overall objective of her work is to gain more knowledge about proteins,

Proteiner – livets byggstenar

Marjolein

Clues for combating malaria

As a result of the synchrotron light techniques available at MAX IV Laboratory in Lund, Professor Adrian Goldman’s research team at the University of Helsinki was able to map the structure of a type of protein. The protein, called pyrophosphatase, is a so-called membrane protein found in plants and bacteria as well as in certain
